R.A.C.E. round 1 (Nelson track), Shannonville Ont. May 1-2, 2010 PDF Print E-mail
p5012383_raffa_race_1We arrived Friday morning slightly before lunch for Friday’s practice day, as usual we did the setup & started preparing the bike that Louie was gonna be riding that day.

The afternoon sessions went extremely well as he was already dipping in his best lap times from the previous year.

Saturday morning started bright & early as Louie got to work with Dave to sort out some last minute settings on the bikes. The lap times dropped even  more to be either 2nd or 3rd fastest on average in every session out.

In the afternoon the skies began to threaten for rain….no worries here as we’ve got amazing suspension setups in those  conditions.

The PRO 600 heat race was 1st on the list for Louie shortly following the lunch break. The first couple of laps we’re just bizarre as the lap traffic was dense & very slow. Eventhough the traffic Louie crossed the finish line in 4th place for Sunday’s final, running the 2nd fastest lap time of the race.

Unfortunatly shortly after that heat race the skies opened up & torrential downpour & lightning was of the party so the rest of our afternoon was cancelled, which meant that the PRO SBK final on Sunday they were going to use the times of a practice from Saturday morning, Louie was to start 9th, not where he would have been had he done the heat race let’s just say.

Sunday morning the pratice sessions went great, making some very last minute adjustments on the “A” bike for the afternoon finals.

The PRO 600 final ended up being run before lunch, on account of the threatening skies. Unlike Louie’s usual launches off the starting grid this one was rough & cost him some positions in corner 1 & on the Nelson track it’s very difficult to make up for spots, but still gained a couple back even though the slower traffic, crossing the finish line in 7th place.

Following several hours of waiting we finally got the do the PRO SBK 12 lap race. Unlike the 600 race Louie made up for his start in that one. He started cutting through some traffic & running some very fast times when he had a very minor lowside out of corner 5, he was able to remount & finish the race 14th.

Overall even though the results are not as good as we wanted still very pleased with the weekend as Louie is significantly faster then last year already.

We look forward to round 2, where the longer track layout will most certainly be of an advantage to our R6’s.
